'Let me twine

Mine arms about that body, where against

My grained ash an hundred times hath broke,

And scarred the moon with splinters...'

Coriolanus

Although there is only one reference to the ash tree in Shakespeare's plays, the ash grew abundantly across England in the 15th and 16th centuries. Timber was in huge demand at this time for houses and ship-building, but a royal act of 1544 stated that if a person owned a wood which was younger than 24 years old they were to leave 12 of each of four different species of tree standing. These trees were the oak, elm, beech and the ash.

Handmade from ash grown in Warwickshire and sourced from responsible forestry practices.

This lovely little block of sustainable ash, all wrapped up in a natural cotton ribbon featuring the titles of Shakespeare plays, will look like the perfect present hanging on your tree this festive season.

Due to its organic nature, the natural shades and tones of wood may change according to external circumstances.

Size: Approx. 35 x 35 x 35mm
